Roger Deering Jr. is the Featured Artist

Roger Deering Jr., a Maine native, retired in 2000 after serving 20 years in the USAF and working for the U S Postal Service for another 20 years to persure a career in art. He has attended many art classes and workshops to obtain the necessary skills and knowledge of artist’s materials to enhance his natural ability to draw.
Many of Roger’s paintings are subject matter from his travels to Monhegan Island, the Southern Coast of Maine and New Hamshire, Arizona and Alaska. He enjoys painting outside, en plein air, whenever possible. He thinks that there is not substitute for the feeling of being part of nature and never forgetting that it is always moving and changing. Roger also enjoys being able to look at nature and man made objects and transfer his vision of what he sees to canvas for others to enjoy now in the future.
When not outdoors, Roger enjoys working in his studio on larger paintings utilizing his many sketches and photographs from his en plein air painting trips. His studio, open by appointment only, is located at 389 Deering Ridge Road, East Waterboro, Maine 04030. Contact information: Tel: 207-247-6987 and e-mail: deering@sacoriver.net
